Chenlu ancient town scenic spot

Chenlu town, located 15km southeast of Tongchuan City, was named after "pottery furnace display" and flourished for more than 1,400 years. It has become the largest ceramic production base in northwest China since the Ming Dynasty and has the reputation of "Oriental Ancient Porcelain Town".

Chenlu town is the direct successor of Yaozhou Kiln, a famous kiln in the Northern Song Dynasty. It has inherited its production technology, created a new world of folk ceramic products, and formed another huge porcelain base including surrounding slopes, Shangdian and other villages and towns. In the Ming Dynasty, a town was set up, and the pottery industry was developed. It was listed as one of the eight scenic spots in ancient times with the reputation of "furnace mountain never sleeps". Since then, fireworks have continued to this day. It is the largest ancient ceramic kiln in China and the world. Here you can see the original pottery-making scene since the Ming and Qing Dynasties. Take materials from the mountains, dig cars and push them by hand; Mud pool display, bright as a mirror; Hand-work the blank, and the wheel will make it; The horseshoe kiln was fired with little improvement. Porcelain tiles in the pottery yard are piled up like mountains, all over the mountains and everywhere. The collection of the exhibition hall is rich and full, and the fine ceramics of past dynasties are collected and displayed in a concentrated way. Artisans live in houses built around mountains, stacked on top of each other, made of red bricks, spacious and clean; Pots and jars are built on walls, and tiles are paved, which is quaint and unique. The four castles in the township are towering, and the remains still exist. The land is high and cool, and it is a good place to enjoy the cool in summer.

The total planned scale of the three kilns of Chenlu is nearly 20 square kilometers, and 34 ceramic firing areas have been found, including 12 kilns of Chenlu. At present, the planning scope of tourist attractions in chenlu town District is nearly 2.5 square kilometers, and the basic framework is to include the area with Chenlu Sibao Mountain Ridge as the boundary, including chenlu town District and major scenic areas. As a whole, the scenic spot is shaped like a big basin, with the hills around Sibao as the "basin edge", the valley floor as the "basin bottom", and the residential areas and production intensive areas with slightly gentle slopes in the middle of the surrounding mountains as the "basin help".

In the course of the development of porcelain industry for thousands of years, Chenlu ancient town has accumulated a strong ceramic culture. Ruins of ancient kilns are all over the town. Pot walls, ceramic tiles paving and layered houses like beehives constitute the unique ancient town features of Chenlu Ancient Town with rich oil painting effects. People's food and folk customs are also self-contained. The 20th century ceramic industrial heritage and the remains of ancient kilns are intertwined, and porcelain workshops and pottery bars are scattered all over the town. The ancient porcelain making skills are still displayed in front of us. All these attract experts and scholars, people in the cultural and artistic circles and Chinese and foreign tourists to visit here. This is an ideal leisure tourism destination that can satisfy different cultural levels, suit both refined and popular tastes and enjoy each other.

Eight views of Chen Lu

During the Ming and Qing Dynasties, there were eight local sights all over the country, and one of the "Eight Scenes of Tongguan (now Tongchuan)" at that time, Furnace Mountain stayed up all night, which reflected the prosperity of Chenlu porcelain industry in that year. In the Qing Dynasty, Chen Lu also had "Eight Scenes of Chen Lu", which has been passed down to this day. Some of the reflected landscapes no longer exist.

Eight Scenes of Chen Lu (local ballads in Qing Dynasty)

The first scene of the furnace mountain staying up all night,

Tao Rongsheng, water mirror in mud pool.

Stone pillars and jade pillars bode well,

Layers of holes are mixed with flowers.

The four castles support the sky and face each other from afar.

Zhou Taozong went to Changxing in ancient times.

The ancient temples are densely covered with clouds,

Misty clouds and colorful screens talk about Danqing.

Detailed explanation: the first scene, the furnace mountain does not stay overnight. Refers to the prosperous porcelain industry in the old kiln, and the fire did not go out day and night. The firing scale of Chenlu porcelain industry is not the same as that of that year, and this scene no longer exists today. The special management department of Guzhen Scenic Area is planning to rebuild and restore this landscape with modern technology. "Clay Pond Water Mirror Tao Rongsheng" refers to the large amount of clay used for porcelain making in that year, with many clay ponds and a grand overall scale. Today, the remains of Gu Ni Pool are still well preserved, which shows the grand occasion of that year. "Stone pillars and jade pillars are a good omen for a good year" refers to the square spring of Chen furnace, which runs continuously all the year round, the terrain is shady, the weather is cold and frozen, and it looks like a jade pillar hanging stone pillars. Today, Fang Quan is still there, and the landscape remains unchanged. "Layered holes are mixed with flowers" refers to the residential characteristics of Chenlu. The old houses in Chenlu are caves, all built according to the "basin gang", and the courtyard of the upper family is the top of the kiln of the lower family. Living in groups, from a distance, layers are stacked as dense as beehives and flower cities. "Four castles facing each other from afar" refers to the four castles on the mountain ridge around Chenlu: there is a North Castle in the north, a Cuijiabao (also called Xibao) in the west, and a Nanbao in the south. The top of Yongshou Village in the west of Nanbao is Yongshou Castle. These four castles were all built in the Ming Dynasty, forming a trend that echoes from afar. The ruins of the four castles still exist today, and the landscape features of that year can be basically seen. "Zhou Taozong's visit to Changxing in ancient times" reflects that the porcelain-making skill of the old furnace has a long history and has been spreading since the year of burning. This scene can be replaced by the Xishe kiln temple of Chenlu, and the related records of Xishe kiln temple can best reflect the age of Chenlu porcelain making. Although Xisheyao Temple was severely damaged, the former site still exists and can be restored. "Ancient temples are densely covered with clouds" means that there were many temples in Chenlu in those days, but most of them don't exist today, and the most famous Qingliang Temple site is still there."Clouds and colorful screens talk about Danqing" refers to the unique residential style of Chen Lu, where every household builds a courtyard wall with discarded porcelain-burning saggers or porcelain cans, which are densely packed into pieces and look like a beautiful Danqing scroll from a distance. This scene is still there today, and it is the most amazing ancient town landscape for many tourists at present, which can be called a must.
