Chongqing Dazu Stone Carving Scenic Area is as famous as Dunhuang Mogao Grottoes, Yungang Grottoes and Longmen Grottoes, and it is the general name of grotto art in Dazu County, which is mainly characterized by cliff statues. There are more than 50,000 religious stone carvings in 74 places in the scenic spot, which are religious cliff carvings in the late Tang Dynasty and early Song Dynasty. The Cliff Statue of Beishan is located in Beishan, 1.5 kilometers north of Dazu District, Chongqing.

The cliff statue in Beishan is about 300 meters long and is a national key cultural relic protection unit and a world cultural heritage. The statue was first excavated in the first year of Jingfu in the late Tang Dynasty (AD 892), and it took more than 250 years to complete after the Liang Dynasty, the later Tang Dynasty, the later Jin Dynasty, the later Han Dynasty and the later Friday Dynasty to the Southern Song Dynasty in 1162. There are more than 4,600 existing sculptures, which are outstanding representatives of China's late grotto art.

2. Nanshan Stone Carvings

Nanshan, formerly known as Guanghua Mountain, is located 2 kilometers south of long gang zhen, Dazu County, with an altitude of 514 meters. Statues in 1131-1162 (Shaoxing in Southern Song Dynasty) were carved in 1131-1162 (Shaoxing in Southern Song Dynasty). The cliff face is 86 meters long and 3.5-10.2 meters high, and the general number is 15. Among them, there are 5 caves of statues, mainly with Taoist themes such as Sanqing Ancient Cave, Houtu Virgin, Longdong and Zhenwu Emperor.
