The Confucius Temple of Returning Home was built in the early Tang Dynasty. Its shape is like a Confucian temple, facing south, with a wall, an altar, two halls, four doors and a forest of steles. In Song Zhenzong, Kong Liangfu and Kong Yanfu, the forty-five generations of Confucius' grandchildren, settled here from Qufu, and restored and expanded the Confucius Home Returning Temple. In the Jin Dynasty, an apricot altar was erected in front of Dacheng Hall. In the first year of Daoguang reign, a shrine was built. Yingtian Academy, also known as Suiyang Academy and Nanjing Academy, is located in the south of Shangqiu County, and is known as the four major academies in the Northern Song Dynasty together with Songyang Academy, Yuelu Academy and Bailudong Academy. Yingtian Academy was founded by Yang Yun, a native of Shangqiu in the Five Dynasties after the Jin Dynasty. After the establishment of the Northern Song Dynasty regime, it began to take scholars. In 1009, the second year of Xiang Fu in the Song Dynasty, Emperor Zhenzong greatly sighed, and the official amount was "Yingtian Academy". Fan Zhongyan came to Yingtian Academy to study, married and had children, settled in Shangqiu, and served as the bishop of Yingtian Academy. In the first year of Song Renzong Jingyou (1034), Yingtian Academy was changed into a government school, and the government allocated ten hectares of land as school funds. In the third year of Qingli (1043), it was changed to imperial academy, Nanjing, which was the highest institution of learning at that time with Kaifeng in Tokyo and imperial academy in Luoyang in Xijing.

Huashang cultural square
