Lugu Lake Tourism
Lugu Lake, located at the junction of Yanyuan County, Liangshan Prefecture, Sichuan Province and ninglang county, Yunnan Province, is under the jurisdiction of Sichuan and Yunnan, with Lugu Lake Town (formerly Zuosuo District) in Yanyuan County in the east and Yongning Township in ninglang county in the west. The lake is slightly northwest-southeast, with an area of 50.1 square kilometers and a reservoir capacity of 2.252 billion cubic meters.
Lugu Lake is a plateau fault-eroded lake, belonging to Litang River system, a tributary of Jinsha River in the upper reaches of the Yangtze River, which is the source of Xiaojin River and flows to Jinsha River via Yalong River.
Located in Yongning Basin, Lugu Lake Basin is the third largest deep-water lake in China, with a small island in it. There are Mosuo, Yi and Pumi nationalities living around Lugu Lake, and there are 7 ethnic groups of Mongolians living along the coast, with about 13,000 people. Beautiful natural environment and peculiar ethnic customs make it a famous tourist attraction. Lugu Lake area is equipped with Lijiang Lugu Lake Mosuo Cultural Tourist Area and Liangshan Lugu Lake Tourist Area. In August, 2023, Lugu Lake Scenic Area went all out to strive for a national 5A-level tourist attraction. In December 2023, Lugu Lake in Yanyuan, Sichuan Province was selected as an important habitat for black-necked cranes in the list of important habitats for terrestrial wildlife.
In Lugu Lake, there is also a flower called "easy virtue", which is also a major feature. From May to October every year, a white flower with three white and transparent petals surrounded by yellow stamens will bloom on the surface of Lugu Lake.
