Kunming Stone Forest Scenic Area
Kunming Stone Forest Scenic Area, also known as Yunnan Stone Forest, is located in Shilin Yi Autonomous County, Kunming City, Yunnan Province, with a karst landform area of more than 1,100 square kilometers and a protected area of 350 square kilometers. It is a national-level 5A scenic spot.
The Shilin Scenic Area in Kunming is mainly karst landform. It belongs to subtropical low-latitude plateau mountain monsoon climate, and has the characteristics of four seasons like spring and distinct dryness and wetness. The main river in the region is Bajiang River, with more than 80 natural lakes such as long tide and moon lake. There are 9 proven underground rivers. There are 87 species of pteridophytes in 21 families, 41 genera and 990 species of seed plants in 51 families, 574 genera. There are 185 species of vertebrates and 42 species of mammals, and the area is one of the main producing areas of the world endangered species-golden pheasant announced by IUCN IUCN1988.
The construction of scenic spots first began in the development of Zhiyun Cave in Wangliang, Zhizhou, during the Wanli period of the Ming Dynasty. [39] In the 28th year of the Republic of China (1939), the Lunan County Government promulgated the Measures for the Protection of Shilin Scenic Spots, which was the first time to protect the Shilin landscape with administrative regulations. According to the data of the seventh census, by the end of 2023, the permanent population of Shilin County was 238,500.
In 2018, the national health county (township) was reconfirmed. On September 4, 2019, Shilin Yi Autonomous County was selected as the first batch of national global tourism demonstration zones. In November 2019, it was selected as the second batch of counties (districts) that reached the standard for the construction of water-saving society.
In 2020, the regional GDP of Shilin County reached 11.707 billion yuan, down by 2.2% at comparable prices. Among them, the added value of the primary industry was 3.072 billion yuan, an increase of 5.3%; The added value of the secondary industry was 1.617 billion yuan, down by 20.3%; The added value of tertiary industry was 7.018 billion yuan, up by 1.3%.
